T: Good morning, boys and girls. The theme of our lesson is «Places of Interest in London». Today well speak about the most famous sights of London, well act out dialogues, do some grammar exercises and play a little. So, lets start our work.

T: You can see a lot of pictures of places of interest. Can you name these famous places? The task for you is to describe the interesting places. Who is ready to start?

P1: London is the capital of Great Britain. It is of the largest city in the country. About 7 million people live here. London is more than 2000 years old. It is situated on the Thames. There are a lot of theatres, cinemas, art galleries, p$arks and museums. Many tourists want to visit famous places in London: Trafalgar Square, Tower Bridge, Big Ben, the Tower of London, the Houses of Parliament and other places.

T: What can you tell us about the Houses of Parliament?

P2: The Houses of Parliament stand beside the river Thames. It is a long grey building with towers. The members of the British Parliament work in this building. The famous clock Big Ben stands near the Houses of Parliament. Big Ben is a symbol of London and Great Britain. You can see hear Big Ben every hour. It weighs 13 720 kilograms. Tourists in London want to visit the Houses of Parliament and see Big Ben.

P3: This is Buckingham Palace. It is one of the most popular place in London. Buckingham Palace is a wondeful$ building. The Queen Victoria Memorial is situated in front of it. It is the London home of the British Royal family. When the Queen in London, she stays in Buckingham Palace. A lot of tourists visit Buckingham Palace.

T: Who is the next to speak?

$P4: This is Trafalgar Square. Its the most beautiful place in London. In the centre, there is a monument. There are two fountains and four lions near the monument. This monument is very beautiful. Trafalgar Square is one of the most popular place for tourists.

P5: You can see the Tower of London from the river Thames. The Tower is very old. The oldest part of the Tower of London is the White Tower. It has a long and cruel history. The Tower of London was a fortress, a royal palace and a prison. Now, it is a museum. There are a lot of interesting collections in the Tower of London.

P6: This is Tower Bridge. It was built in 1894 and still looks beautiful. It is $one of the famous bridges across the Thames. Tower Bridge is next to the Tower of London. It opens and ships go up and down the river Thames. Id like to see Tower Bridge.

P7: Westminster Abbey is one of the oldest buildings in London. It was founded by St. Peter and built by King Edward in 1065. Westminster Abbey is a symbol of England. The coronation of British Kings and Queens takes place in Westminster Abbey. Some famous people are also buried there.

T: There are a lot of museum in London. Most museums are free. What can you tell us about the famous waxworks museums?

P8: Madame Tussauds museum is one of the sights of London. Its the famous waxworks museum. It has the largest collections of waxmodels in the world. Actors, film stars and sportsmen come face with famous politicians. There is a special place for the Queens family.

T: London is very rich in parks and gardens, isnt? Tell us about the famous parks.

$P9: There are a lot of parks and gardens in London. These are Green Park, Hyde Park, St. James Park, Regents Park and Kensington Garders. Most of them are free. Hyde Park is very beautiful park. It is one of the most popular place of Londoners. H$yde Park is famous for its Speakers Corner. Id like to visit this park.
